America can’t lead the next tech boom without data centers. We need to build hundreds of them in the next few years, as they are the central nervous system of AI and internet services.
Unfortunately, the latest polling numbers still show that by a two-to-one margin, voters are hostile to AI and data centers.
A central mission of UP over the next two years is to assuage people’s hostility to data centers. Our view is they should only be built in communities that want them.
President Trump, for his part, has persuaded the tech companies to offer written guarantees that they won’t cause electricity prices to rise for consumers. We would suggest they go further, and affirmatively buy down consumer rates with a printed line on consumer bills.
