Speaking of the media fact checkers, they’ve had a field day with Trump’s declaration that he could replace the income tax with tariffs.

The Trump critics insist this is impossible and inconceivable. How could we possibly run the government without an income tax?

Hmmm. Well, let’s see. We did that for the first 125 years of our country until the passage of the 16th Amendment in 1913. We did just fine without it.

Under the FAIR Tax, an 18% sales tax/tariff could replace the federal personal income tax, the capital gains tax, the corporate tax and the dividend tax.

Imagine that America had no income tax. This would be the greatest wealth and job generator in world history. The only problem would be that everyone in the world would want to come here.  We’d need a bigger wall.
