We are doing cartwheels over Joe Manchin’s declaration yesterday that President Biden’s $5 trillion Build Back Better plan is “dead.”
“What Build Back Better bill?” Manchin growled when asked about the legislation. “It’s dead.” Hopefully as a doornail.
Is it a coincidence that he made this statement the very same day the government announced that the national debt (including shortages in Social Security and Medicare) now exceeds $30 trillion?
As most of you know, the top mission of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity over the last year has been to block this godawful multi-trillion dollar expansion of government spending, debt, and taxes. We teamed with Larry Kudlow and Brooke Rollins at America First Policy Institute to lead a “Kill the Bill” coalition of more than 75 conservative organizations against this monstrosity.
But readers beware: we won’t believe BBB and all its component parts are truly “dead” until January of 2023 when Nancy Pelosi is no longer Speaker of the House.
