Those readers who were with us from the very start of the Hotline in early 2020 know that this daily briefing started as a truth-telling newsletter on COVID.
So much of what the government health complex was telling us about the virus – deadly as it was – was meant to scare the living daylights out of Americans, rather than calm people down – as had long been the pandemic protocol. Much of the “official story” was false or misleading. We fought tooth and nail against lockdowns from day one – even as too many conservative groups supported what we now know was one of the most catastrophic mistakes in American history. The earning losses from school closures alone will cost the economy trillions of dollars in the decades ahead.
At the tip of the spear of the scaremongering and misinformation was, of course, Dr. Anthony Fauci – America’s modern-day Benedict Arnold.
So we were thrilled to learn yesterday that Fauci saw Unleash Prosperity as a threat to his schemes to shut down the entire American economy and close schools. We learned this because of the dogged pursuit of truth by Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky (a physician himself) who uncovered Fauci’s diary items from this period. Here is one of the passages:
We at UP had been chronicling Fauci’s deceptions and had helped persuade President Trump to get the economy up and running again ASAP – which horrified Fauci. Our colleague Phil Kerpen became a media regular on Fox News disputing Fauci on a nearly nightly basis. We republish below the Hotline item from July 2020, which stands up well over time.
In reading the Fauci diaries – which were written at the height of the COVID panic – what comes across is that Fauci had developed some kind of megalomaniac god-complex, fed by his overnight celebrity status and the media’s fawning approval of his catastrophic recommendations.
The WSJ has a great editorial today on the diaries.
