Good news: you can keep your dishwasher. At least for now. A federal court has yet again blown a whistle on the Biden administration’s illegal attempts to invade your kitchen (figuratively speaking for now, at least) and ban household appliances.
A 25-page opinion from the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals held that the Trump administration correctly issued a rule allowing consumers to choose between dishwashers that take up to two and a half hours to operate but use less water and those that can do the job in an hour.
The court was scathing in its indictment of the Biden “green police”. The court noted that many Americans using “green” dishwashers have complained they don’t work well. It found the Biden rules “make Americans use more energy and more water for the simple reason that purportedly ‘energy efficient’ appliances do not work. So Americans who want clean dishes or clothes may use more energy and more water to preclean, reclean, or hand-wash their stuff before, after, or in lieu of using DOE-regulated appliances.”
The Biden administration is already under fire for efforts to limit gas stoves, lawn blowers, and other popular consumer products.
We hope the 5th Circuit decision will mean the Department of Energy’s new absurd energy efficiency measures set to take effect in 2027 will get scrubbed too. Incidentally, this isn’t just Democrats who are to blame. This move to make mandatory these crazy “efficiency” standards started as a result of the godawful energy bill of 2007 signed into law by…President George W. Bush.
