Two years after the COVID pandemic began, a new poll from YouGov and Americans for Prosperity shows  the public has become much more cynical about mandates

Some examples:

• 43 percent of Americans feel their protest rights and their free speech rights are less secure.
• More than one in three Americans feel their religious liberties are less secure; only 10 percent feel they’re more secure.
• Almost half of respondents said they have lost trust in the CDC since the start of the pandemic.
• More than half of people said officials did a poor job keeping any restrictions or requirements as focused and narrow as possible.

We have said it many times on these pages that the politicians’ response to COVID was an epic failure of big government. It’s reassuring to learn that most Americans agree with us.
