The tech industry does a lousy job explaining to Americans how AI and robotics will improve all of our lives invisibly but significantly.
This must-see video from Amazon of how the production and delivery system employs AI and robots is jaw-dropping. It explains how products from crayons to brassieres made in Malaysia and packaged in a warehouse in West Virginia can be delivered by truck or van (and soon by drones) to your doorstep in 48 hours at lower cost than ever before in history and way below what the local hardware store down the street charges.
The video is longer than most that we link to but even just watching the first five minutes is worth it. We have here the miracle of capitalism and technology that allows poor people to have more goods and services than most of the world’s wealthiest people had access to just 50 years ago.
This explains how companies like Amazon have done more to reduce poverty than any government income redistribution program in history.
