The Golden State has a set of election laws that intentionally turn a blind eye to voter fraud. California elections feature endless counting delays, automatic voter registration, automatic mail voting and mail ballots without safeguards.
Luckily, Californians will vote next month on Proposition 39, which would require voter ID at the polls and make it harder to cast invalid votes by mail. A new commercial points out the absurdity of having current state law stipulate that “poll workers must not ask a voter to provide their identification.” There is also no mechanism by which to check if those registering to vote or casting a ballot are non-citizens.
Opponents of Proposition 39 claim, with a straight face, that election fraud is rare. So what is the danger of making sure, by putting in safeguards that over 30 other states have?
The California Democratic Party and its union allies have contributed over $30 million to fight the measure. Under the current loosey-goosey election system, they dominate the state’s politics and see no need for any oversight that might question if it’s being abused. Shouldn’t that make everyone suspicious?
