On Thursday, we noted that only three states now led by Democratic governors have opted into Trump’s private-school tax-credit scholarship program established by the Big Beautiful Bill.
State lawmakers must be reading HOTLINE. Just hours after we went to press, the Kansas legislature overrode Democratic Governor Laura Kelly’s veto, opting the state into the program.
Pennsylvania may be next. The GOP only controls one house of the state legislature, but U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon is in Harrisburg applying pressure to Governor Josh Shapiro. Remember, he campaigned in favor of school choice only to flip after winning the election. Shapiro claims to still be studying the issue.
What is there to “study,” Governor?
