The Supreme Court Rules on Racial Gerrymandering

This is a Supreme Court decision that we’ve been waiting many years to see. In a 6 to 3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court has severely restricted the role of race in drawing congressional district lines.

The Court declared: “Allowing race to play any part in government decision-making represents a departure from the constitutional rule that applies in almost every other context.”

Justice Elena Kagan wrote a dissent accusing the court of conducting a “demolition of the Voting Rights Act,” a 61-year-old law passed when racial discrimination in the electoral system was blatant, especially in the Democrat-controlled South. Currently, a majority of the 58 Black House members are from districts that have more white voters than Black voters.

We think it’s a disgrace that in the year 2026 – the 250th birthday of the nation – three liberal members of the Court still believe this is 1966… or maybe 1866. America is ready to judge congressional candidates by the content of their character, even if some of the justices believe otherwise.
