America’s elite colleges and universities have traditionally touted their commitment to diversity, encompassing race, ethnicity, gender, and other categories. The one kind of diversity they’d never mention is ideological. In sum, Republicans and conservatives didn’t count.

The faculty lounges at these universities have been the worst offenders, and some recent data reveal the depth of homogeneity among professors.

A recent study by Princetonians for Free Speech showed that 98% of the campaign contributions by Princeton faculty in the 2023-24 election cycle went to Democrats or affiliated groups. Just two percent went to independents – while Republicans and affiliated groups received none.

You’d think that Princeton might have hired a single Republican by accident!
