Apparently Democrats were paying attention to the drubbing that soft-on-crime mayor Lori Lightfoot suffered in the Chicago mayoral election.
The DC crime bill passed the Senate last night 81-14-1 — a bipartisan landslide. That’s a stark contrast to the House, where 173 Democrats voted to greenlight the DC Council’s attempt to weaken punishments for violent crimes in the midst of a crime wave.
They had excuses about DC autonomy and statehood (never, please) but the reality is most of them were just following their party leader in the White House:
“So a lot of us who are allies voted no in order to support what the White House wanted. And now we are being hung out to dry,” the lawmaker continued. “F****** AMATEUR HOUR. HEADS SHOULD ROLL OVER AT THE WHITE HOUSE OVER THIS.” The House Democrat added multiple other lawmakers were “EXTREMELY pissed” about the situation.
