That’s the conclusion of  Adam Michel at Cato, who ran the numbers and found the Democratic Socialists of America’s policy agenda would require an estimated $71 trillion to $212 trillion in new federal spending over 10 years.

This far exceeds what could be raised by taxing only wealthy individuals and corporations. He finds that financing such a large expansion of government would ultimately require soaking middle-class Americans with higher taxes, similar to many of the European welfare states.
