Will Washington Gov Bob Ferguson Save His State?

Three weeks ago, Ferguson flipped on his 2024 campaign stance and embraced a 9.9% income tax on millionaires. This economic cyanide pill has passed both Houses and has  landed on his desk. But that’s exactly where it has stayed, and the longer he goes without signing it, the more we have to wonder if he could flop back.

The bill was delivered to the governor’s desk on March 13, 2026. He has until April 4 to sign, veto, or let it become law without his signature.

Furguson signed a tax CUT bill on Tuesday, lowering the state’s absolutely insane 35% death tax (in effect this year) to a still-punitive 20%.  But no action yet on the millionaire tax.

Ferguson has been bombarded by employers and donors begging him not to sign the state’s economic future away. We still expect him to sign the bill – as quietly as possible – at some point. But there is still a glimmer of hope.
