LA Times: Turn America into California

1) LA Times: Turn America into California

We warned this would happen if Democrats took back control of Washington. Here is the headline from the LA Times over the weekend:

Yikes! California is melting down – and not from global warming, but its high taxes, oppressive regulations, union control of workplaces, climate change fanaticism, lockdowns of its businesses, and a host of other policies.

The Golden State is a scientific experiment as to whether “progressive” policies work and – well the experiment has gone bust. On net, nearly one million more Americans have left California than come in over the last decade. The state ranks near the bottom in poverty rate, school performance, unemployment, and homelessness.

But here is the LA Times report, and we warn you in advance, this is very frightening stuff – bordering on lunacy:

California is emerging as the de facto policy think tank of the Biden-Harris administration.

There is no place the incoming administration is leaning on more heavily for inspiration in setting a progressive policy agenda.

And, of course, San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi will be running point on the California agenda as House speaker.

Biden has been pushing to nationalize some of the state’s pioneering efforts on climate action, workers’ rights, law enforcement and criminal justice, high speed rail, healthcare and economic empowerment for years.

The Times admits that many of these policies have gone off the rails (literally in the case of the $50 billion high-speed rail flop), but liberals counter that’s the price we have to pay for a progressive future.  “California has this mantle of leadership, but along with that can come the stumbles of being the first adopter,” Rep. Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) told the Times. “It’s an innovative and imaginative place that tends to set trends and blaze trails. It’s too big and too influential not to inform our country’s policy direction going forward.”

Well, yes, congressman. California DOES inform us on exactly what NOT to do if we want to keep America prosperous. We will stick with states that Californians are fleeing to, like Florida, Texas, and Utah, as our models.
2) Israel Data: Vaccine DOES Stop Transmission

We’ve been skeptical of claims that fully vaccinated people might still spread the coronavirus. While it’s theoretically possible, no other highly effective vaccine has failed to prevent infection. Until now, there were no data on the question. Which is why this is such great news.

Participants who have received the second dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine have developed 6-20 times more antibodies for the pathogen, Sheba Medical Center said in a statement on Monday.

The survey, which reviewed data from 102 of about 1,000 of the hospital’s personnel who have received both shots, showed that only two subjects have developed low amounts of antibodies – one of the subjects suffered from a compromised immune system.

The rest of the subjects have developed more antibodies than patients who recovered from the disease.

‘The results of the survey are consistent with Pfizer’s experiment and even exceeded expectations,’ Director of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit at Sheba Medical Center and editor of the survey Prof. Gili Regev-Yohai said. “I expect that the survey results of the other employees participating in it will be similar. There is definitely reason for optimism.”

People who received both doses of the vaccine will most likely not become carriers of the virus and will not spread it further due to the high level of antibodies.
