1) Lie of the Day: “I never said I oppose fracking.”
The most shocking part of the debate last night was Biden’s claim that he’s never opposed fracking — when in fact he’s said over and over, on tape, that he would end it. We’ve spotlighted this before:
But debate viewers didn’t have to look up old ads and videos to see Biden contradict himself. He did it right there on the stage, just a couple of minutes later, when he said he would shut down the entire American oil industry:
Donald Trump: Would you close down the oil industry?
Joe Biden: By the way, I have a transition from the old industry, yes.
Donald Trump: Oh, that’s a big statement.
Joe Biden: I will transition. It is a big statement.
Donald Trump: That’s a big statement.
Joe Biden: Because I would stop.
Kristen Welker: Why would you do that?
Joe Biden: Because the oil industry pollutes, significantly.
That doesn’t just mean devastating job losses in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, etc. It also means sharply higher prices at the pump for every American, and the geostrategic disaster of total dependence on foreign oil. The biggest winner of Biden’s oil ban? Vladimir Putin.
