1) Victory! Biden’s Doubling The IRS Is OFF THE TABLE
The GOP’s lead Senate negotiator for the $579 billion bipartisan “infrastructure bill” said the idea to finance it by funding a swarm of 75,000 new IRS agents to bring in new revenue was dead. Apparently, Democratic Senate leaders were apparently engaged in double accounting and negotiating in bad faith.
Portman laid it on the line by telling CNN: “One reason it’s not part of the proposal is that we did have pushback. Another reason is that we found out that the Democrats were going to put a proposal into the reconciliation package…with a lot more IRS enforcement.”
As we noted on Friday, that “pushback” on IRS funding was led by CTUP. The letter we sponsored and signed by major conservative leaders opposing even one more penny for the deep state at the IRS went viral. Special thanks to CTUP co-founder Steve Forbes for reminding Congress: the best way to increase voluntary tax collection is through a simple FLAT TAX.
That’s our message, and we are sticking with it!
2) Why Our Government Can’t Build Anything Anymore
And speaking of infrastructure, the video linked below by our friends at Kite and Key Media is a must see before any vote on a trillion-dollar public works bill. You won’t know whether to laugh or cry.
It documents that because of bureaucratic bungling and hyper-regulation, government-funded public works projects – roads, bridges, ports, tunnels, green energy projects – cost at least double what they should. And they often take twice as long to build as projects used to. Trump signed an executive order to short-circuit these regs to get things built faster. Guess what? Biden repealed that EO!
The Anderson Memorial Bridge in Cambridge Mass., pictured below, took 11 months to build 105 years ago. Now it takes five years just to repair it!
We don’t need more money for tax dollars for infrastructure. We need to spend the money we already have much, much smarter.
