We could only chuckle at the news that UC-Berkeley will be launching an institute in the name of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The university claims that one of the institute’s four pillars will be “ensuring political leadership that represents the full spectrum of perspectives and backgrounds in California and the country.” Oh?

The famously liberal and fiercely partisan Nancy Pelosi is striving for a makeover, telling the New York Times that her institute will be focused on wholesome things like civics and democracy. “You can’t be partisan in the academic world,” she said.

Count us skeptical.
