The Trump administration has been waging a lonely fight against discriminatory taxes imposed by Europe and other nations on American tech companies. These “digital services taxes” are aimed at Google, Apple, and Meta. Trump got Canada to back down, but as the resolution notes, France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Austria, and the UK have all implemented these taxes and Belgium and Poland are actively considering it.

So it is welcome news that a bipartisan resolution in the House of Representatives introduced by Republican Ron Estes of Kansas is co-sponsored by three Democrats and three Republicans.

The taxes are applied ONLY to American companies.

We hope there is a floor debate and vote because we are curious if any member of Congress would defend taxes that target American companies and jobs.
