What happened 250 years ago really was miraculous.
To quote Ronald Reagan: “Can we doubt that only a Divine Providence placed this land, this island of freedom, here as a refuge for all those people in the world who yearn to breathe free?”
If not divine providence, how else could the likes of John Adams, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, Robert Morris, Benjamin Rush, Benjamin Franklin, John Morton, Samuel Chase, and dozens of other super patriots – the greatest assemblage of brainpower in history – have come together to sign the Declaration of Independence?
(George Washington would have signed but he was on the battlefield.)
