Yes, America, There Is a Santa Claus

1) Yes, America, There Is a Santa Claus

This one can’t be blamed on Nancy Pelosi, AOC, or Bernie Sanders. Republicans in Congress, en masse, voted for a monstrosity that violates EVERY principle of good economics, limited government, and fiscal conservatism. We wonder if Republicans actually believe that $1 trillion of government spending will “stimulate” the economy. Every Republican in the House and Senate should go back and read Milton Friedman’s Free to Choose. The best way to stimulate the economy is to CUT government spending, you frauds and fools!

Whatever happened to the Tea Party? Whatever happened to the GOP’s commitment to read the bill before they vote on it? We guess they will use the Pelosi strategy of finding out what’s in the bill AFTER they vote on it. And speaking of Obamacare, this stinkbomb is five times LONGER than Obamacare.

The bill has no tax cuts (except for the Martini lunch, as the WSJ reminds us, and absurd wind and solar credits), no deregulation, no spending caps, nothing. Even the cracker-jack speed readers we’ve hired at CTUP to scan the 5,900 pages haven’t found all the pork and Hershey kisses crammed in this bill, but here are some of the low lights:

https://rules.house.gov/bill/116/hr-133-sa

– $82 billion for education — of which only $2.75 billion is designated for private schools
– $25 billion in “rental assistance,” a vast new housing subsidy program
– $16 billion for the airlines and $14 billion for mass transit
– $10 billion in loan forgiveness for the postal service
– Wind and solar tax credit extensions (but — happily — no extension for electric vehicles)
– A 15% benefit plus-up for food stamps
– $10 million for “gender programs” in Pakistan (yes, this will stimulate the economy!)
– $40 million for the Kennedy Center
– $4 billion for the NY City Subway system (the biggest transporter of the virus)
– Two new Smithsonian museums on the mall — a Museum of Women’s History and Museum and Museum of the American Latino

2) The Last Fiscal Conservatives Left in Washington

How dispiriting that only SIX Republicans in the entire United Senate voted against this fiscal atrocity. Well, these six deserve our praise and admiration, while the rest of the hypocrites get coal in their stockings.

Thank you to:
– Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee
– Ted Cruz of Texas
– Ron Johnson of Wisconsin
– Mike Lee of Utah
– Rand Paul of Kentucky
– Rick Scott of Florida
